World Sleep Day
What helps you sleep better at night?
Walnuts - contain their own source of melatonin, which may help you fall asleep faster.
Gratitude - gratitude makes you more aware of the good things in your life. This upbeat, positive outlook helps keep pessimism and worry at bay making you doze off faster and sleep longer and better.
A hot bath - a soak in a hot bath sees your temperature rise. The rapid cool-down period immediately afterward relaxes you and makes you sleepy.
Socks in bed - Keeping your feet warm by wearing socks can help improve circulation in your extremities, which can help you fall asleep more quickly.
A good pension - The security and confidence of having a good pension reduces worry that will mean that you can sleep at night.
- if you have a defined benefit pension, think very carefully before you give up the guarantees;
- if someone approaches you about having a pension review, “hang up” – choose carefully who you trust to give you advice on your pension;
- if you are self-employed, you want to have the choice of when you stop/reduce work – a pension is a good way to achieve this; and
- if you are in a pension scheme, check that the scheme knows who should receive your pension on your death.
