Volunteers Week 2016 : Thank you from TPAS
1st to 12th June is Volunteers’ Week 2016, a celebration of the fantastic contribution made by volunteers across the UK. We’d like to take this opportunity to join in the celebration by thanking all our volunteers for their help, time and support they have given The Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS) over the last 32 years. This year our team and volunteers have helped over 170,000 people with their pension questions and problems. We would not be able to help so many people without the support that the TPAS team get from the 400 plus pension professionals who give their time and expertise to us.
Our volunteers come from all sections of the pension industry, with two thirds working alongside their volunteering commitment. In a recent survey, our volunteers indicated that for many of them volunteering for TPAS is motivated by a desire to help others with their pension situations. Another reason included employer encouragement; therefore, we’d like to make a special mention to the following organisations that have provided the most number of volunteers in the last year: Aon Hewitt, DLA Piper, Hogan Lovells, Sackers and the Pension Protection Fund.
Michelle Cracknell, Chief Executive of The Pensions Advisory Service said “For us here at TPAS, our volunteer advisers are part of our team. They are professional, knowledgeable and committed to helping individuals with their pension queries and problems. The pension industry should be immensely proud of the contribution their colleagues have offered to TPAS over this last year and the 31 years before. It is because of their specialist pension’s knowledge and valuable time they’ve given that we have been able to help even more people with their pensions. We believe that volunteering at TPAS is not only self-rewarding for our volunteers, but it is life changing for our customers”.
While the majority of our volunteers are made up of pension professionals who help on our national helpline and assist on our dispute case work, we also have volunteers who help us out in the office and on our special projects. These behind the scenes volunteers who help with the daily running of our service also deserve a big thank you.
On behalf of the thousands of people who use our service, we’d like to say a huge “Thank you” to all of our volunteers. But, as the world of pensions continues to develop and our customer queries increase, we need our volunteers now more than ever.
