Plan your retirement and sleep better at night!
New research from Scottish Widows has discovered that more than 1 in 10 people are spending at least an hour of their day worrying about and dealing with issues related to their personal finances.
Over a quarter admitted that they stay awake worrying about the future, to the extent that they are too tired to concentrate properly at work the next day. And nearly a third said that they would sleep better if their financial affairs were in order.
85% of those surveyed agreed that having a plan in place helps to ease anxieties, but the research found that while 9 out of 10 people think that it is important to have a retirement plan in place, over a third have no plans at all.
If you are worried about saving for retirement, why not take charge today? If you are a member of your employer's pension, find your most recent statement and see how much you are likely to get at retirement. Find all the paperwork for your old pensions too, and find out how much money is in them. If you have moved house, make sure that you have given your pension provider your new address.
Once you have all the figures in front of you, it will be easier to see if you need to increase your payments (or restart them) in order to stay on track.
If you have no pension savings, it is never too late (or too early!) to start. Read more about choosing a pension on our website.
