The rules applying to your pension contributions during maternity leave are quite complex. They differ during “Ordinary Maternity Leave” and “Additional Maternity Leave”.

In most cases, your employee contribution will be the percentage of your maternity pay, whereas the employer contribution will be on your earnings prior to maternity leave. You should speak to your employer to understand the rules that apply to your workplace pension scheme.
