Happy 100th Birthday Finland
Happy Birthday Finland! Finns are celebrating 100 years of being an independent country today. Which for a country sounds relatively young.
Finland received a message of congratulations from the Queen and more of us are likely to receive a royal telegram when hitting that same milestone. In fact according to the Office of National Statistics, babies born in 2016 have a 1 in 3 chance of reaching 100 and 40 year olds today have a 1 in 10 chance.
So whilst Finns are celebrating with Sibelius concerts and the World Figure Skating competition, what should Brits be doing to prepare for longer lives? A pension as originally developed is an insurance plan designed to make sure you don’t run out of money in your old age. The state pension and workplace pensions will usually get most people part-way to where they need to be but there is always the possibility of saving more. TPAS has developed a spotlight on the subject of saving into a pension where we outline some useful tips but also feel free to call us on 0300 123 1047 and speak to one of our specialists. As the Finns will tell you, reaching 100 should be a cause for celebration.
