Older people are living longer than ever before

A report issued today by Public Health England shows that life expectancy figures for England are the highest ever recorded at nearly all ages considered in the study (65, 75, 85 & 95).

The report shows that for those aged 65, men can expect to live for another 19 years and women for a further 21 years. This is an important issue for people to bear in mind when planning their income in retirement. The new figures, based on experience to 2014, show an increase of 0.3 years in life expectancy for 65 year olds since the 2013. This comes after falls in life expectancy in some groups in the previous report. The report also shows how life expectancy varies across the country.
