Bumper Week for Babies But Don’t Forget the Pension

Last Monday was the most popular day for births in the UK with around 2,000 new-borns being welcomed into the World. It is an exciting time for most parents and it comes with a checklist of items to buy and things to do.

Pension contributions may not be top of most parents’ checklist but it is worth looking into this crucial area. Employment law is clear that women on maternity leave cannot be discriminated against and have the same right to pension contributions from their employer as their colleagues. Most schemes also allow the member to make up any gaps in contributions when they return to work after maternity leave.

We have more hints and tips on pension matters to consider during maternity leave in our spotlight.
