Baroness Hollis of Heigham
It was with great sadness that we learnt that Patricia Hollis, Baroness of Heigham had passed away. We would like to pay tribute to the great work of Baroness Hollis who served on the TPAS board until 2014.
Baroness Hollis was instrumental in introducing pension sharing as part of divorce proceedings which is now enshrined in law. Patricia was also a champion for guidance in the House of Lords, making clear the need for public bodies such as TPAS.
Earlier in her life, Baroness Hollis was active in the American civil rights movement before becoming a lecturer in modern history at the University of East Anglia and subsequently National Commissioner for English Heritage. Her book Jennie Lee – a life about the pioneering MP and former Minister for the Arts won the 1998 Orwell Prize for political biography and 1998 Wolfson History Prize for historical book of the year.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.
