State pensions

In this section you will find useful information on the UK state pension, as it is at the moment. The state pension age has been undergoing radical changes since April 2010.  The changes will see the state pension age rise to 65 for women between 2012 and 2018, and then to 66, 67 and 68 for both men and women.

However, our website only includes changes which have actually been passed in legislation.  So the changes in the current pensions bill are not described in detail.

State pensions are run and paid by the Pension Service, which is part of the Department for Work and Pensions.
