Financial Services Authority

The FSA regulates financial services in the UK.  This includes banking, insurance and savings business.  They ensure that firms and individuals who provide these services meet set standards and, if they do not, they can take action.

To carry out banking, insurance and savings business, firms and individuals must be authorised by the FSA.  The FSA keeps a register of these regulated forms and individuals, which you can check through their website - www.fsa.gov.uk.

The FSA does not deal with complaints from individuals against the services provided by regulated firms and individuals.  Instead, complaints from individuals should be directed to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).
