17 June 2005
The Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS) will be publishing its
annual casework report "Advising on Pensions - a Review of
Activities 2004/05" on Friday, 1 July 2005.
The report will provide details of the numbers and types of
pension enquiries/complaints handled during the year together with
comment and analysis on the various issues raised by consumers.
Particular problems including the lack of adequate advice provided
on "SERPS opt-outs" and a "jurisdictional black hole" for dealing
with complaints about transfers within or between occupational
schemes will be highlighted. The report includes many case examples
illustrating dispute resolution and what can and is being achieved.
Information is also provided about the special pensions helpline
for women provided last Autumn and the conclusions drawn from
it.
The report is being launched at the Victoria Thistle Hotel, 101
Buckingham Palace Road, London SW1 at 12.00 noon on 1 July 2005.
There will also be a presentation to the Volunteer of the Year and
seven new Fellowship Awards.
This is an open meeting and representatives of the media are
welcome to attend.
A copy of the report together with an embargoed press release
will be issued in advance on Thursday 30 June 2005.
Requests for further information and/or an interview about the
report should made to Malcom McLean, Chief Executive on the contact
details shown above.
