Thompson reaches final position on BBC Pension Scheme

09 November 2010

Mark Thompson, the BBC's director-general of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) advised staff on Monday that he will not re-open discussions on their pension benefits despite continuing threats of strikes, which may include a walkout during the Christmas Period.

In the e-mail to staff, Mr Thompson said:

"We cannot and will not enter fresh negotiations or contemplate fresh changes to the agreed offer on pension reform, no matter how much industrial action there is from the NUJ."
