A survey, published yesterday by Liverpool Victoria shows that
more then 4.5 million of today's over 50s are expecting to work
beyond their state pension age.
The survey suggests:
- Over half of this group anticipate working no more then an
additional 5 years over their state pension age.
- A quarter of this group anticipate working between 5 - 10 years
after their state pension age.
- A fifth of this group anticipate working beyond 70.
- Twice as many women expect to work beyond their state pension
age.
Liverpool Victoria's research also shows that one fifth of
over-50s who had retired have now returned to work, of these people
a third have stated that they missed working and a quarter because
they could no longer afford to be in retirement.
