David Cameron revealed that should the Conservatives win the
upcoming general election they will raise the basic state pension
as well as the retirement age.
Mr Cameron said: "We've made a tough choice. We have said that
from 2016, we are going to move the retirement age a year later.
People are living longer in this country, people are having longer
and happier retirements, and I think it is right to say we should
move that retirement age."
