DWP to permit transfers of contracted out rights after 2012

07 December 2010

The Department for Work and Pensions has recently announced it will not stop people transferring out of defined benefit pension schemes as a result of their contracted out benefits.

It was originally suggested that a person with defined benefit contracted out rights would not be able to transfer to a defined contribution pension arrangement.

The change in policy was announced in the response by the government to the recent consultation on the abolition of Contracting-out on a Defined Contribution Basis.
