The Department for Work and Pensions has recently announced it
will not stop people transferring out of defined benefit pension
schemes as a result of their contracted out benefits.
It was originally suggested that a person with defined benefit
contracted out rights would not be able to transfer to a defined
contribution pension arrangement.
The change in policy was announced in the response by the
government to the recent consultation on the abolition of
Contracting-out on a Defined Contribution Basis.
