The Conservatives say they will scrap means testing for
Equitable Life victims if they are elected. Treasury spokesman Mark
Hoban, has pledged to compensate all policyholders and dependents
of those who have died.
According to The Scotsman newspaper, the Conservatives said the
Treasury has earmarked £1bn for compensation.
The current government compensation scheme will mean only those
who have been 'disproportionately affected' by the collapse of
Equitable Life will receive compensation.
