AA patrol staff have voted to go on strike in a dispute over
pensions. The Independent Democratic Union (IDU) said its members
had voted 57 per cent in favour of industrial action in an 87 per
cent turnout.
No strike dates have yet been set and the union is asking the AA
to hold more talks on the issue.
AA's management, faced with a £180m pension scheme
shortfall, want to limit workers' annual rises in pensionable
salary to 2.5 per cent and increase staff contributions.
A strike could leave 15 million breakdown service customers
without roadside help.
