A European Court of Justice (ECJ) decision has ruled that the
UK's compulsory retirement age of 65 is not a breach of European
Law. The ECJ told Heyday, part of Age Concern (which brought the
case), that the practice of making workers retire at 65 was legal
if there was a legitimate aim related to employment and social
policy, and said that the High Court in London must decide if the
age limit is justified.
