A General Motors Europe spokesman has confirmed that its parent
firm's move to file for bankruptcy protection in the US would not
affect the firm's European pension schemes.
General Motors (US) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on the 1st
of June. This in turn raised fears for pension scheme members this
side of the Atlantic.
GM Europe spokeswoman Karin Kirchner said "Any procedure taking
place in the US would not impact Europe as the two legal entities
are separate."
