Vauxhall Schemes Unaffected by GM Insolvency

A General Motors Europe spokesman has confirmed that its parent firm's move to file for bankruptcy protection in the US would not affect the firm's European pension schemes.

General Motors (US) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on the 1st of June. This in turn raised fears for pension scheme members this side of the Atlantic.

GM Europe spokeswoman Karin Kirchner said "Any procedure taking place in the US would not impact Europe as the two legal entities are separate."
