Trustees sue over equalisation advice

Trustees of the Britannia Building Society Pension Scheme have filed a High Court claim against Eversheds and Mercer alleging that they were given negligent advice when the pension scheme equalised benefits for men and women in the 1990s, when schemes became obliged to equalise retirement ages following the case of 'Barber v Guardian Royal Exchange' but a number of recent cases such as 'Foster Wheeler v Hanley' have found that this was not always carried out correctly.
