Trustees of the Britannia Building Society Pension Scheme have
filed a High Court claim against Eversheds and Mercer alleging that
they were given negligent advice when the pension scheme equalised
benefits for men and women in the 1990s, when schemes became
obliged to equalise retirement ages following the case of 'Barber v
Guardian Royal Exchange' but a number of recent cases such as
'Foster Wheeler v Hanley' have found that this was not always
carried out correctly.
