According to research carried out by Annuity Clearing House
(ACH), half of the 275 independent financial advisers surveyed do
not have a thorough knowledge of the annuities market.
Only a third felt they had adequate understanding of the
impaired annuities market, and just one in eight believed they knew
enough about invested annuities.
ACH Managing Director Steve Hunt commented on a more worrying
part of the study: "We are deeply concerned to note that of the 30
leading retirement income specialist IFA firms, less than 60%
admitted to having a "thorough knowledge of annuities in
general".
