More than one million Equitable Life members are set to find out
next week if the government will bow to pressure to compensate them
for losses they suffered when Equitable Life came close to collapse
eight years ago.
Yvette Cooper, Treasury chief secretary, is scheduled to make a
Commons statement next week. The Treasury yesterday refused to
comment ahead of the Commons statement.
