Default retirement age challenged

Catharine Pusey, Director of the Employers Forum on Age (EFA), has expressed disappointment that a number of people are still victims of ageism at work, despite legislation introduced in 2006.

Ms Pusey said the EFA's long-term campaign is to persuade the Government to commit to remove the default retirement age of 65 in 2011 - rather then merely review, which will provide clarity for employers and employees and give employers several years to prepare.
