The Office of National Statistics (ONS) has made a few changes
to its "Pension Trends" report. The report provides a number of
statistics for the debate on pensions. It documents changes in
pension provision as well as life expectancy and working practices.
It was first published as a hardcopy in 2005 and is now available
online. Updated chapters are published on the website and two main
changes have just been made.
Chapter 14, "Pensions and the National Accounts", has also been
updated to show that employee contributions to funded pension
schemes have overtaken employer contributions. Employee
contributions reached £42.5bn in 2008.
