Unite to sue Irish Government

16 April 2009

The Irish Government is facing legal action from trade union Unite over failures to protect the pensions of workers whose companies have collapsed. According to a Unite spokesman, the issue will come to the courts in the next few weeks.

The legal proceedings are due to the Irish Government's "failure to provide pension protection" for members of the Waterford Wedgwood pension scheme.
