In the first move of its kind, fraud prevention company
Tracesmart has been allowed access to obtain death registration
information by the General Register Office. Pension schemes can use
the data to scan members to stop benefits being drawn after a
member's death, as well as using the information to update personal
details.
Tracesmart managing director Michael Trezise said: "Being
supplied with up-to-date and accurate death registration
information ensures that we will be able to supply the pensions
industry with access to the most comprehensive database of
mortality data available. Our new existence product will provide a
simple and affordable method to protect pension schemes from fraud
whether it be inadvertent or intended."
