Strike threat over Royal Mail pension plan

28 March 2008

CWU, the union representing postal workers, has said that it will ballot its members on the proposed changes to the final salary pension scheme before considering its next steps.

Unite's members have already rejected the plans and the union is now likely to hold a strike ballot.

A Royal Mail spokesman said: "We had lengthy talks with both unions and reached agreement last year on pension reform, as part of a wider agreement on modernisation."
