The rise in inflation during May has hit the the over 75 age
group the hardest, according to research by Alliance Trust. This
group faced an inflation rate of 4.8%
The official rate of inflation is 3.3% and so the over 75s group
face inflation 45% higher than the official rate.
Elsewhere the 50-64 age group also saw their rate of inflation
rise to over 4%.
