Bosses face ban on personal accounts opt-out questions

15 January 2008

The Government is planning to ban employers from asking staff about their pensions in job interviews to prevent discrimination.

Government are understood to be concerned that employers will try to reduce the cost of the new personal accounts, which requires employers to make a contribution, by only recruiting those staff who say they will opt out of the scheme.

It is understood that the Government would amend the Pensions Bill later this month, to prevent discrimination.
