Equitable Life decision soon

The Government is expected to respond to the Equitable Life saga next week although Ian Pearson, economic secretary to the Treasury, has refused to comment on whether it will offer compensation to more than a million policyholders who were victims of the near collapse.Mr Pearson told the House of Commons that a statement on the parliamentary ombudsman's report will be made very shortly.
