More than a million policyholders who lost billion of pounds due
to the near collapse of Equitable Life must now wait until the New
Year to find out whether the government will pay compensation.
The government said yesterday any decision on the Parliamentary
Ombudsman's report would be delayed until parliament returned in
January.
