Despite assurances from London Mayor Ken Livingstone and
Transport for London (TfL), the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union
(RMT) have announced it will proceed with a three-day strike from
six o'clock tonight. RMT say they have failed to obtain
"unequivocal guarantees" that their members would not face job
cuts, forced transfers to other employers and reduced pensions
following the collapse of Metronet.
The Transport Salaried Staffs Association and Unite will
announce today whether their members will take part in the
industrial action.
TfL announced yesterday that it planned "to take over the
Metronet contracts and fully protect pensions".
