Some employees who have transferred out of public sector
employment when their work is outsourced will have the right to
demand good quality pensions, under new regulations being
introduced on 1 October.
The new rules will apply to "best value authorities" in England
and police authorities in Wales. The current New Fair Deal
principles will still apply to most other public sector employees
(i.e. non best value authorities).
In addition, the regulations only apply to TUPE transfers with
effect from 1 October as well as second and third generation
contracts.
