Discussions between Qatari investment fund Delta Two and the
Sainsbury pension fund trustees are continuing, despite reports of
a deal being agreed.
Speculation that the Sainsbury board would recommend Delta Two
£10.6bn bid this week was prompted by reports of a
£1.5bn offer being agreed for the Sainsbury pension fund.
However, Delta Two could not confirm it had reached an agreement
with the trustees.
The Sainsbury pension scheme has assets of £4.25bn and a
reported deficit of £100m.
