Employees believe they cannot rely on state pension provision

02 November 2007

Following a survey carried out by Towers Perrin on 2,199 employees at private sector companies, only a quarter believe they will receive all the benefits they have earned in the state pensions system to date.

Over 50% believe the state pension will no longer exist by the time they retire.

Half of employees under the age of 35 think they will be worse off in their retirement than their parents and 83% want employers to provide education and advice about a wide range of saving options.
