Civil Servants' expected to back pension changes

20 July 2007

A ballot of civil servants is likely to back significant changes to the Civil Service Pension Scheme. Under the plans, new entrants will retire at 65, with their pension based on career average earnings rather than their final salary.

Existing members of the scheme can still retire at 60.

The two biggest unions - Prospect and the PCS - have recommended that their members should back the changes.
