Pensioners' Petition Taken To EU

31 January 2007

A petition calling for the inequality in the state pension for men and women to be addressed is being put before the European Parliament.

The Plymouth Senior Citizens' Forum, which represents more than 8,000 pensioners, is calling for the £33 a week inequality in the state pension for men and women to be addressed.

The petition will be put in front of the European Parliament's Petition Committee.

Forum spokesman Ted Jones said he was confident the petition would help to make the necessary changes.
