More than one fifth of pensioners not claiming pension credit

07 August 2007

A press release from Unbiased.co.uk (the industry body responsible for promoting independent financial advice in the UK), has warned that more that more than one in five pensioners are not claiming pension credits. This means that up to £2bn worth of pension credits will go unclaimed this year.

Pension credit is a tax-free weekly payment, which could mean extra money each week for people aged 60 or over living in Great Britain. Pension Credit currently guarantees a minimum income of at least £119.05 per week for a single person or £181.70 per week for a couple.

Further information on Pension Credit can be found on our website by going to 'State Pensions'.
