Equitable Life victims call on government to pay compensation

22 August 2007

Victims of the Equitable Life collapse have called on the Chancellor to hand over compensation, following the European Parliament report two months ago. The European Parliament report called for compensation and regulatory changes.

In a letter to Alistair Darling, the Equitable Members' Action Group called for an immediate comprehensive response to this report.

The government has said it will not respond to the European report until the parliamentary ombudsman Ann Abraham published her report. In May, Ms Abraham said her publication has been delayed and there was no timetable for when it would go ahead.
