Most firms are trying to recruit older people to overcome a
shortage of skilled workers, a study has said.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)
found that 70% of employers were actively looking to recruit people
over the age of 55. The study also said that 31% of organisations
wanted to take on those already entitled to the state pension.
The report comes a few months before laws banning any age
discrimination comes into force. The CIPD's survey covered more
than 800 employers in the public, private and voluntary
sectors.
